Since 2019

A roastery built on precision.

Roastability is a specialty coffee roaster with one guiding principle. A great cup comes from precision and consistency, not luck. This is how we got here, and how we work today.

The Story
01Where it began

It began with a standard.

Roastability started in 2019, when founder Yuan set out to build a roastery where precision wasn't a slogan but the entire point. The belief was simple: exceptional coffee takes more than passion. It takes obsessing over the details most people never notice.

That standard became the foundation everything else is built on.

02It starts with the bean

Great coffee starts before the roast.

We learned early that no roast can rescue an average green coffee. So sourcing is something we take seriously: sampling, roasting, and cupping the same coffees again and again until they earn a place on the menu.

It's slow, deliberate work, but it's how we find lots worth roasting and producers we can rely on, season after season.

03Measured, not guessed

We measure colour. We don't guess it.

Consistency is where a lot of roasters quietly fall short. They judge roast colour by eye and hope each batch matches the last. We take a different approach. Every batch is measured on an Agtron colour meter, an instrument precise enough, and expensive enough, to take human guesswork out of the equation entirely.

We've also tuned our roaster well beyond its factory build, with custom-made parts that let us capture cleaner, more detailed data on every roast. Each batch is logged and profiled, so the bag you open today matches the one you'll open next month.

04Better with partners

Wholesale is partnership.

Wholesale has been part of Roastability from the beginning. We work with cafés and partners who care about quality as much as we do, and over the years those have grown into genuine relationships: consistent roasting, reliable service, and a shared standard for what good coffee should be.

05Roasting is only half of it

Roasting is only half the cup.

A careful roast still depends on a careful brew. That's why we put real effort into helping people get the most from our coffee: clear brew guides, practical education, and advice whenever it's useful. It's the final step that turns a well-roasted bean into a cup worth remembering.

Data over guesswork

Better data makes a better roast.

Our approach to roasting was shaped by Scott Rao, one of the most respected names in specialty coffee, and a roaster known for a single conviction: good data is what lets you truly understand a roast and fine-tune it toward the exact taste you're after. Yuan studied his methods from the earliest days of Roastability, and later attended his Roasting Master Class in person, where this photo was taken.

That mindset runs through everything we do. The logged profiles, the custom-tuned roaster, the colour meter on every batch: none of it is for show. It's how we make sure better data becomes a better, more consistent cup.

Precision on every roast. Flavour in every sip.

That's the standard we hold ourselves to: coffee that's precise, consistent, and worth remembering. At home, in a café, or somewhere in between.
